Syria expects to start exporting locally collected cars at the end of the year 2020

Mohamed Khalifa, director of costs and financial analysis at the Ministry of Industry, said that the Syrian-Iranian company for the manufacture and assembly of tourist cars "Siamco" had negotiated with external markets such as Iraq and Jordan to know the cars required to manufacture and export them, while he expected that other auto assembly companies would start exporting at the end of 2020.

Khalifa added that "Siamco" is the only company in Syria that has 3 showrooms for manufacturing and assembling cars since its establishment, while other companies have only one hall, and the government has directed them since 2018 to move to the stages of manufacturing through 3 halls within 3 years.

The Director of Costs and Financial Analysis pointed out that the production stages in the three halls are the welding of the structure and the assembly of parts and paint, and these three halls must be available with other private companies in order to be able to achieve feasibility through export.

Media and social media reported, "Prime Minister" Imad Khamis, saying that Syria will export 50% of locally collected cars to many countries.

Yesterday, Sunday, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, said that import licenses related to car assembly components were temporarily frozen, in order to assess the experience of assembling cars in Syria for the past two years.

In June 2018, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection issued a decision stipulating the formation of a central committee consisting of several ministries, namely, the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Industry, whose task is to study the costs of assembling cars and determine final sale prices after subjecting them to rates Profits.

The "Siamco" plant is the largest branch of the "Eco Company" outside Iran, and it is the first car manufacturer in Syria and located in the Adra industrial zone and was operated in 2005 with a production capacity of 30 thousand cars annually.

Siamco shares are owned by Iran Khodro, a car manufacturer, with a percentage of 40% and 60% for Syria, and the company is currently producing a car, including Sham and Shahba.
