A Rising Trajectory for Developing Economic and Trade Relations Between Syria and Uzbekistan
Syrian-Uzbek relations have witnessed a qualitative leap in the fields of economic cooperation and trade exchange, through a series of strategic steps and joint meetings that mapped out a rising timeline for developing the partnership between the two countries.
High-Level Visit and Preliminary Understandings (December 2025)
The features of this renewed partnership began with a visit by a high-level Uzbek delegation to the capital, Damascus. This visit resulted in an agreement between both sides to increase the volume of bilateral trade and to commence the establishment of joint investment projects serving the interests of both nations.
Plans to Increase Exports and Expand Markets (January 2026)
The economic momentum continued with the start of the new year, as Uzbekistan officially announced its plan to raise the level of its exports to Syria to reach $150 million in the coming period. This step comes within a broader Uzbek strategy aimed at expanding its export base, diversifying markets, and achieving industrial growth by targeting new international markets such as Syria.
Business Forum and Memorandums of Understanding (February 2026)
Culminating these efforts, the "Uzbek-Syrian Business Forum" was held in the capital, Tashkent, serving as a vital platform to enhance communication between business sectors. On the sidelines of the forum, the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
