Press reports indicated that Barcelona is seeking to amend several conditions in the contracts of the players, who recently signed with the Catalan club, in order to prevent them from engaging in commercial projects in addition to their football activities.
The Spanish newspaper "ABC" revealed the intention of the Barcelona administration to set a set of new conditions in the contracts of new players, to prevent the recurrence of positions that fell short of the administration, specifically the issue of Gerard Pique, the defender of "Blaugrana".
The newspaper pointed out that the Catalan club will depend on the need for any player in Barcelona to submit to conditions that prevent him from combining his life as a player and any other professional activity, without the approval of club officials, as quoted by "AS" Spanish.
Pique has many projects such as buying Andorra and organizing Davis Cup in the tennis tournament, so the Barcelona administration wants to prevent the team players from entering projects such as restaurants, hospitality, fashion and electronic games.
Pique caused a crisis during the preparatory period for FC Barcelona before the start of the current season, due to his travel to finish matters related to his project in the Davis Cup tennis, which sparked a state of controversy.
Pique commented on the criticism leveled against him, saying: "I talked with the coach about this and asked me about my weekly plans and how we will organize them, and I have a good relationship with him and the club as well, but the noise comes from outside."
"The fans are following how I had my dinner here or there, and it will not be affected whether I traveled Tuesday or Wednesday, which is a 40-minute flight by plane, like traveling to Tarragona with my car," Pique continued.
