In a move reflecting a remarkable growth in economic relations between Damascus and Tripoli, the President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Alaa Al-Ali, received today at the Federation's headquarters a high-level Libyan economic delegation led by Mr. Mohamed Abdul Karim Al-Raied, President of the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce. The meeting was attended by the Libyan Ambassador to Damascus, Mr. Walid Ammar; the Secretary of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Dr. Abdul Rahim Ziadeh; the Head of the External Relations Committee at the Federation, Dr. Anas Al-Bou; board members of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Fawaz Al-Akkad and Mr. Baraa Rabah; and board member of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ahmed Sabouni.The discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment cooperation, launching new partnerships, encouraging investors, exchanging visits, and forming a joint committee to study proposed projects. Additionally, the two sides emphasized the importance of Libya's participation in the Damascus International Fair and organizing an exhibition for Syrian products in Libya to boost the presence of Syrian goods in the Libyan market.On the sidelines of the meeting, the presidents of the two federations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding economic and trade cooperation between companies and institutions in both countries. The MoU also covers encouraging participation in trade fairs and forums, exchanging information on foreign trade, customs regulations, and investment opportunities, forming a joint team to prepare an annual report on cooperation outcomes, as well as facilitating the travel of businesspeople and enhancing the promotion of local products
