MP of the People's Assembly for Hama and Waddah Murad revealed that "the Ministry of Electricity has withdrawn a quantity of the share of gas allocated for electricity generation and gave it to the fertilizer plant in Homs in order to continue production."
Murad confirmed that "the Minister of Electricity admitted during the session of the People's Assembly on Thursday that they had withdrawn from the share of gas allocated for generation and 1.2 million cubic meters for the fertilizer plant in Homs."
"I asked the minister of electricity under the dome, is it true that there is a shortage of generating gas?" The minister replied, "Yes, there are economic activities and we cannot give them."
Murad stressed that the minister "Mo see with his hands, so it became a sudden shortening of electricity and there are areas that cut 6 hours and come half an hour."
As for the solutions that can be taken to fill the shortage, Murad said, “The solution is to stop the investment of the fertilizer plant.
He continued, "It is true that the state is supposed to provide the power of the factories to the investor, but if it can not provide electricity to the citizen, do we give it to the investor?".
Murad said that "the talk was at the end of the meetings of the Council on Thursday and in the week after next we will raise the issue again because it seems that the government Mo difference with it."
On the situation of the Syrian pound, Waddah stressed that "the exchange rate position is in the hands of the government and I am not convinced that several traders can play at the dollar price in the country."
On the impact of the political situation in neighboring countries and sanctions on Syria, he stressed that "the situation in Lebanon certainly has an impact because it is a reservoir of hard currency for traders."
He added that "there are measures that can be taken and the solution to prevent trading in the dollar and give it to real traders who import real and not to 3 or 4 traders who get hard currency at the central price and sell it at the black market."

The Ministry of Electricity referred the reason for the long hours of rationing to the great pressure on energy because of the winter and the tendency of people to heat on electricity because of the low temperatures.
