The Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Nidal al-Shaar, issued Decision No. 114 on June 30, 2026, regarding the formation of the Syrian-Jordanian Business Council (representing the Syrian side), which comprises a prominent group of Syrian businessmen.The Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry secured a significant share of representation in the newly formed council. Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, Chairman of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Member of the Executive Bureau of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, was appointed as the Secretary-General of the Council. Additionally, Dr. Hussein Al-Manjar was appointed as the Executive Director.Mr. Al-Rifai expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who nominated him for this role and placed their invaluable trust in him. He emphasized that all necessary efforts will be made alongside his colleagues in the council to meet expectations and fully execute their duties in the best interest of the two brotherly nations, Syria and Jordan. He added that the council aims to serve as a bridge and a point of intersection between both populations and their respective commercial, industrial, and investment sectors, fostering growth, development, and prosperity.Mr. Al-Rifai concluded by stating: "This is our duty and a trust placed upon our shoulders.
