Signing of Agreements and MoUs Announced at the Syrian-Uzbek Economic Forum in Aleppo
Aleppo, May 20, 2026 – The city of Aleppo witnessed today, Wednesday, the launch of the Syrian-Uzbek Economic Forum. The event culminated in the signing of a package of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting trade exchange and launching promising investment partnerships between the business sectors of both nations.
Strategic Partnerships and Bilateral Meetings
The signed agreements focused on facilitating the movement of goods and meeting the Syrian market's needs for Uzbek products, particularly in electrical equipment, building materials, and food commodities. The forum also featured intensive bilateral (B2B) business sessions and workshops between Syrian and Uzbek entrepreneurs to discuss financing mechanisms, shipping, and establishing joint industrial and commercial projects that leverage preferential advantages in both countries.
High-Level Official and Economic Presence
The forum hosted a prominent economic delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. The Syrian side featured high-level participation, including Mohammad Yassin Houria, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry; Ala'a al-Ali, President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce; and Sa'eed Sheikh al-Kar, President of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, alongside a large gathering of commercial and industrial figures.
A Step Toward Aleppo's Economic Leadership
Participants emphasized that choosing Aleppo to host this event reflects its value as an ancient economic and historical capital. They noted that today's understandings will directly contribute to driving production and expanding international cooperation, especially with the official invitation extended to Uzbek companies to participate in the upcoming Damascus International Fair 2026
