Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce Discusses Enhancing Economic and Trade Cooperation with Belarus
DAMASCUS — Consultant Dr. Anas Al-Bou, Head of the Foreign Relations Committee and Board Member of the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce, held a meeting with Anatoly Pogrenko, Counselor for Economic and Trade Affairs and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Damascus, to discuss ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Riad Hamad, General Representative of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Syria. Both sides discussed mechanisms to improve communication between the business communities in both countries, as well as activating mutual visits and trade missions.
During the meeting, Dr. Anas Al-Bou highlighted the key strategic projects and initiatives implemented by the Federation recently to develop the business environment, which included:

Restructuring the chambers of commerce and forming specialized committees.

Establishing the Center for Economic Studies and Research.

Working on launching the Syrian Center for Arbitration and Mediation.

Reaching the final stages of the comprehensive digital transformation project.
Furthermore, Al-Bou emphasized the investment incentives, tax benefits, and customs facilities provided by Syrian legislation to foreign investors and companies wishing to enter the local market.
For his part, Pogrenko praised the vital role played by the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce in boosting economic activity. He expressed his country's readiness to provide all necessary facilities to exchange expertise and develop joint relations, inviting the Syrian business sector to actively participate in trade exhibitions hosted in Belarus.
Concluding the meeting, both parties discussed the possibility of organizing an upcoming virtual meeting bringing together the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce and its counterpart, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This meeting aims to establish a practical framework to serve the interests of private sector institutions in both countries
