The Food Industries Committee in Daraa Discusses Production Development and Digital Transformation
The Food Industries Committee of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry held an expanded meeting to discuss the current state of the food sector in the governorate. The attendees addressed the primary obstacles facing facility owners and formulated practical solutions to upgrade local production efficiency and readiness.
Key Highlights and Outcomes of the Meeting:
Production Lines and Technology Development: Attendees acknowledged minor production rates in certain food industries due to a shortage of specialized technical expertise in packaging, wrapping, and filtration. They emphasized the need to upgrade machinery, secure adequate capital for development, and ensure fair competition.
Quality Control and Standards: The meeting stressed the vital importance of establishing technical laboratories within food facilities. These labs will monitor the safety of raw materials and final products to ensure compliance with approved Syrian and international standard specifications.
Marketing and Opening New Markets: The discussions focused on the Chamber’s role in coordinating with relevant authorities to secure new export outlets to absorb surplus production. Additionally, they highlighted activating manufacturers' participation in local and international exhibitions to promote national products.
Field Inspections: The committee directed the continuation of inspection tours on food facilities to monitor operations and guide owners toward modernizing their production methods.
Technical Presentation on Digital Transformation:
On the sidelines of the meeting, "Winwin" Company delivered a presentation on administrative development and digital transformation solutions. The company demonstrated the advantages of implementing the (Odoo) system and its role in boosting operational efficiency to help Syrian enterprises attain international quality certifications (ISO).

The meeting was chaired by Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Hariri (Chairman of the Committee), and attended by the Chamber’s leadership: Youssef Al-Masalmeh (Vice President), Mohammad Al-Omari (Secretary), Radwan Al-Shraideh (Treasurer), and Ahmed Al-Kharmandi (Chamber Director), alongside board members: Ghassan Al-Mahameed, Nasser Al-Masalmeh, and Mustafa Al-Sayyed. Government officials also participated, including Dr. Adel Al-Sayasneh (Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection) and Eng. Khaled Al-Atmeh (Director of Industry), in addition to a group of local industrialists: Mahmoud Ahmed Dheeb, Wael Al-Hourani, and Nasser Al-Mahameed
