Irbid, February 11, 2026 – Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, Chairman of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Mohammad Al-Shuha, Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, signed an official Twinning Agreement today at the Irbid Chamber's headquarters. The agreement aims to enhance economic cooperation and open new horizons for bilateral trade. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Hani Abu Hassan, Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, along with board members from the Daraa, Irbid, and Ramtha chambers.
Both Al-Rifai and Al-Shuha emphasized that this agreement is designed to help both sides overcome obstacles facing the commercial sector. Under the agreement, the chambers will serve as a direct liaison with officials in both countries to communicate challenges and work toward solutions. This coordination aims to ensure the seamless flow of goods and elevate trade exchange to levels that meet the ambitions of both nations.
During the meeting, the two parties highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal relations between Jordan and Syria, particularly the close ties between the neighboring governorates of Irbid and Daraa. They affirmed that continuous coordination between the chambers is the most effective path to overcoming current economic challenges and achieving sustainable development for traders and investors.
The twinning agreement focuses on several strategic pillars, most notably:
Boosting Trade Volume: Increasing the exchange of goods and products between Daraa and Irbid.
Operational Mechanisms: Establishing clear frameworks to accelerate import and export operations.
Investment & Information Exchange: Sharing investment opportunities and market data to benefit producers and merchants in both local markets.
On the sidelines of the signing, the Daraa delegation toured the various departments of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce. They were briefed on the modern administrative systems and technologies utilized to ensure speed and accuracy in serving the business community, which contributes significantly to supporting the local commercial environment.
