Al-Kilaniya neighborhood .. An architectural masterpiece of channels and cellars

The neighborhood of Kilaniya in Hama is an architectural masterpiece and a tourist landmark with its art and creativity from the Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman periods. It is bordered to the south by the “Sabouniyeh Quarter” and to the north by “Aleppo Road”. .
It is said that the first was built by «Seif al-Din Yahya al-Jilani» in the seventh century AH, and scholars are likely that its foundations date back to ancient times well before the Ayyubid period because of the channels and cellars in it, one of which is said to extend from the neighborhood of Kilaniya to the neighboring neighborhood of Baroudi on the bank of the Orontes And, these archaeological cellars of the most beautiful distinguishes Alkilanip, the most important «« cellar Alkilanh, basement of the plane, the basement of the corner of Qadriya, basement of the Sheikh bath, basement door Khoja ».
The neighborhood connects the West Bank of the Orontes River with a single bridge, overlooking it with its facades, palaces and mosques built directly on the river, which made it look like a castle with only one crossing.
Al-Kilaniya neighborhood is rich in historical and archaeological buildings, where it includes Al-Hamra Palace (Al-Tayara). It was named after it because it overlooks the river in the form of an airplane. It is similar to the Arab architecture in Andalusia. It also includes an old Ottoman bath called Sheikh Hammam and Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Kilani Mosque. Al-Kilani has three residential properties.
