Omar Al-Soma, the Saudi Al-Ahli professional, confirmed that Firas Al-Khatib, the former captain of Syria, is a "true legend".
"I personally know Firas al-Khatib from 2012, when we played together in Kuwait's Qadisiyah, I learned and benefited a lot from him," Soma said in televised remarks.
He continued: "Firas al-Khatib set an example for all the players of Syria, and his retirement is a great loss, I hope that he will stay close to Syrian football, to benefit from his long experience."
Firas al-Khatib, the top scorer of the Syrian national team with 36 goals, announced on Sunday his retirement from the final and official, after a long march.
