Syria participates in the meeting of the Council of the Regional Center for Urban Water Management in Tehran

The meeting of the Council of the Regional Center for Urban Water Management started today in the Iranian capital, with the participation of delegations of a number of countries, including a delegation from Syria headed by Minister of Water Resources Eng. Hussein Arnous and in the presence of the Syrian ambassador to Iran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud.
 
Arnous said in a speech during the meeting that the Syrian government is working to rehabilitate the water system, despite the circumstances of the unjust blockade and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the colonial countries of the West on Syria, adding that the Syrian people have been subjected to an unjust war over the past eight years in which the forces of terrorism have contended and caused tremendous damage In the water sector in Syria in general and the drinking water and sanitation sectors in particular, water is used as a weapon in its war against the Syrian people.
 
Minister Arnous expressed his hope to benefit from the experiences and techniques developed in the field of urban water management and cooperation in the field of developing technologies and special policies and scientific research in this framework, especially in the stage of the reconstruction of the water system.
 
In turn, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakianian mentioned in a speech during the meeting the work of the Regional Urban Water Center and its cooperation with international and local organizations and institutions in order to achieve water security.
 
The meeting includes ministers and assistant ministers from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Switzerland, Oman, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt and Turkey. The meeting aims to exchange experiences and proposals on the water system
