The number of tourists arriving in Syria increased by 46% to exceed 2.1 million

The Ministry of Tourism revealed an increase in the number of Arab and foreign arrivals, by 46 percent as of October 2019 compared to the same period of 2018, where the number of arrivals «tourist, visitor one day, resident» 2.1 million arrivals, including 1.9 million Arab arrivals increased by 50 percent compared to the same period of 2018, most of them are citizens of (Lebanese, Jordanian, Iraqi and Bahraini), while the number of foreign arrivals reached 178 thousand, an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period of 2018, most of them are citizenship (Russian, American, Iranian, Pakistani and Indian) ).
 
Indicators provided by the Ministry of Tourism to the Prime Minister, there is an increase of arrivals for the purpose of religious tourism, an increase of 24 percent compared to the same period last year, where the number of 212 thousand visitors, during which they spent nearly 1.215 million tourist nights, an increase of 23 percent compared with the same period of In 2018, most of them were Iraqi, Pakistani, Indian, Bahraini and Kuwaiti citizenship.
 
Indicators pointed out that the number of Arab and foreign hotel guests as of September 2019 amounted to about 294 thousand guests, including 220 thousand Arab hotel guests, and 74 thousand foreign hotel guests.
 
Indicators pointed out that the ministry has established more than one site dedicated to popular tourism through the Syrian Company for Transport and Tourism, where an open beach site in Wadi Qandil area was equipped on the lands owned by the ministry, and the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment has been asked to confirm all city councils and administrative units, especially Touristy ones to allocate studied areas as popular parks and prepare them to be ready for the citizens in order to establish parks managed by the councils or an appropriate investment formula.
 
In cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Governorate of Quneitra, the Ministry has been allocated a location near the Al-Mantara dam to be used as a summer park for low-income people.The Syrian Transport and Tourism Company is currently preparing the park site as a project for domestic and popular tourism.It is expected to be opened in mid-2020.
