The Prime Minister, Eng. Imad Khamis, witnessed the developments of the “vegetable and animal” agricultural reality and projects of the “agricultural” rural family in the Damascus countryside / Maliha area to find out the requirements of farmers and follow up the implementation of the state’s plan to stimulate agriculture in all areas liberated from terrorism and to reinvest every meter that can be planted.
Eng. Khamis listened to the requests of farmers and livestock breeders, which focused on securing feed, opening agricultural roads, granting soft loans from the Agricultural Bank, supporting modern irrigation networks, alternative energy projects, opening damaged wells, securing agricultural tractors, seeds, and seedlings in sufficient quantities and numbers.
Standing at the requirements of farmers during the tour, it was agreed to secure / 32 / thousand fruit trees planted free of charge initially to be distributed to farmers in the region and to rehabilitate the "Kharabo nursery" in Eastern Ghouta, which was destroyed by terrorism so that it secures the entire region's need for agricultural plantings. The Ministry of Agriculture supported the region with the necessary mechanisms to open and secure agricultural roads in the region, support for the provision of loans to farmers from the Agricultural Bank for the livestock sector, the purchase of agricultural pumps, and the use of alternative energy for irrigation.
It was requested from those in charge of the agricultural sector in Damascus countryside to follow up the implementation of the agricultural map prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and to describe the reality of each agricultural land and the requirements for re-cultivation according to specific time programs in coordination with agricultural associations, the agricultural departments and the local council in addition to developing the work of nurseries so that their production is of excellent quality and open licensed wells Just.
The Prime Minister stated that agriculture was one of the most important components of economic development in the past decades and formed the most important factors of economic resilience during the war as no agricultural product was lost from the markets during it, and that the government’s plan to provide all the necessary support to replant every meter of cultivation and provide family plantations and crops Seasonality and help farmers to restore their lands green as they were.
